I taught my last cardio kickboxing class for 2003 at Sequoia Y today. It was a little anticlimatic since I didn't prepare anything special. I read on TBB that some instructors ended the year with themed classes and treats: one yoga instructor filled the room with lit candles, played relaxing holiday music and gave each of her participants a gift. What a great idea! I'll keep that in mind for next year.
Kim, the group ex director at Sequoia Y, has switched offices. She had sent out an email telling us about this but I forgot and went over to her old office to sign my time card. I'm really glad I did because I saw that she had put up an impressive display of Christmas decorations on the door. She had stuck up a mini stocking for each instructor - there was even one with my name on it! It was beautiful and festive.
I saw Kim in her new office and she informed me that I had a present. A present! For me? I love presents! It was a cranberry red sweatshirt with "Sequoia Y" written on it. What a great gift. I love YMCA paraphernalia. I was considering buying a new sweatshirt lately too, so this gift was timely and appropriate.
In other news, my Ailment returned halfway through class. I had no choice but to grit my teeth and tough it out. I had tried self-diagnosis earlier in the day, and went as far as getting tests done at a medical lab. They came back negative which is worrisome because I don't know what's wrong with me. I feel like such a hypochondriac.
